Shakespeare's Globe Postcard
Shakespeare's Globe Postcard
Shakespeare's Globe postcard is from North East artist Emily Ward's beautiful range of art postcards. This postcard has been created from original artwork by Emily.
The Globe stands at the centre of the art postcard, its circular form painted in crisp white plaster with bold dark timber beams. The golden thatched roof glows warmly, and red banners hang in vertical alignment along the walls. Brick steps lead to a wrought-iron gate, anchoring the structure with quiet strength.
Above, the sky stretches in layers of blue and lavender, flecked with lighter tones that give texture and movement. The effect is light and open, drawing the eye upward. In the foreground, broad strokes of pink, yellow, and purple bring vibrancy and warmth, tying the scene together with energy and harmony.

Shakespeare's Globe
Originally built in 1599 by Richard Burbage, the Globe quickly became the heart of London’s theatre scene and the home of Shakespeare’s company. Its round shape, open roof, and tiered galleries offered a lively and inclusive space for audiences of all classes. Destroyed by fire in 1613 and demolished in 1644, the Globe lay absent for centuries until Sam Wanamaker inspired its rebuilding. Opening in 1997, the modern Globe recreates the spirit of its predecessor, serving as both a tribute to history and a vibrant centre for theatre today.
Today, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre stands as both a working playhouse and a cultural landmark, bringing the playwright’s work to modern audiences while offering insight into the history of performance. It hosts productions in the style of the original Globe and provides workshops, exhibitions, and talks that connect visitors with Elizabethan theatre. More than a reconstruction, it is seen as a living space where history and art meet.
