Shakespeare's Globe ceramic tile with easel is by North East artist Emily Ward. The ceramic tile has been created from original artwork by Emily and is hand pressed locally in her art studio.
Above Shakespeare’s Globe, broad washes of soft blue and lilac blend gently, flecked with lighter tones that give the sky has a gentle, open energy.
Beneath it, the Globe rises with grace and warmth, circular in form, with white plaster walls and dark timber beams, it reflects the craft of Tudor architecture. Its golden thatched roof glows in the light, and red banners hang in vertical lines. Brick steps and a wrought-iron gate provide grounded structure. Across the foreground, sweeping strokes of pink, yellow, and purple bring energy and celebration to the art gift.

Shakespeare's Globe
The Globe Theatre
was built in 1599 by Richard Burbage and quickly became a central part of London’s cultural life. As the home of Shakespeare’s company, it brought theatre to audiences of all kinds. Its round shape, open roof, and tiered galleries made it a lively and unique space. Although it was destroyed by fire in 1613 and later demolished in 1644, its memory lived on. Centuries later, Sam Wanamaker brought the Globe back to life, and in 1997 it reopened as a faithful recreation of the original.
Today, Shakespeare’s Globe is both a working theatre and a cultural centre. It stages performances in the style of the original theatre and offers workshops and exhibitions to share Elizabethan drama with new audiences. The Globe now stands as a living link between Shakespeare’s time and the present.

Each ceramic tile is made from an original painting by North East Artist Emily Ward.
Each tile comes with it’s own wooden easel so your tile is easy to display.
There is a cork backing on each tile and each tile is individually wrapped in a cellophane bag.
All ceramic tiles are individually printed so there may be a slight variation in colour tones.
