Shakespeare's Globe Greeting Card
Shakespeare's Globe Greeting Card
Shakespeare's Globe greeting card is from North East artist Emily Ward's beautiful range of blank art cards. This greeting card has been created from original artwork by Emily.
On Emily's art greeting card the sky stretches in soft shades of blue and purple, dotted with light flecks that set a gentle tone for the scene. Below, the theatre stands with warmth and presence. Its circular walls are painted in white and deep brown, the Tudor timber framing clearly defined, while the golden thatched roof glows under the daylight. Red banners hang from the façade, adding vertical emphasis and theatrical flair.
In the foreground, wildflowers bloom in loose clusters of pink, yellow, and purple.

Shakespeare's Globe
Built in 1599 on the south bank of the Thames, the Globe Theatre became the stage most closely associated with William Shakespeare. It could hold crowds of up to 3,000, accommodating both the wealthy and the working poor, uniting them in shared experience. Its design, with a thrust stage projecting into the audience, helped define the interactive style of Elizabethan performance.
Though it prospered for decades, disaster struck in 1613 when a fire consumed it. Rebuilt, it continued until Puritan reforms shuttered all theatres in the 1640s, after which it was demolished. Centuries later, Sam Wanamaker championed its reconstruction, and the new Globe opened in 1997. The modern theatre blends performance with education, offering audiences an opportunity to engage directly with Shakespeare’s world.
