Shakespeare's Globe Coaster
Shakespeare's Globe Coaster
Shakespeare's Globe coaster by artist Emily Ward has been hand pressed locally onto a FSC rated hardbacked coaster. The coaster has been produced from original artwork by Emily.
This coaster can also be purchased in a set of four in a gift box.
Emily's art coaster is filled with purples, pinks, and yellows flecks that lift upward from the ground, giving the sense that the flowers themselves are scattering joy into the sky.
The theatre rises in strong contrast. Its circular form is clearly defined, with white plaster walls and dark timber beams marking its Tudor identity. A thatched roof in warm orange-brown tones crowns the building, glowing with light.

Shakespeare's Globe
In 1599, Shakespeare’s company built the Globe Theatre , a round timber structure designed to house their productions. Situated on the lively south bank of the Thames, it became one of London’s most important cultural spaces. With an open yard for standing spectators and galleries above, it reflected the diverse makeup of Elizabethan audiences. The stage, thrust into the crowd, created immediacy and energy that shaped the way plays were written and performed.
In 1613, during a performance of Henry VIII
, a cannon sparked a blaze that destroyed the roof and much of the building. Rebuilt soon after, it survived only until the 1640s, when it was closed and torn down. Yet the Globe’s fame persisted, and in 1997 a faithful reconstruction opened nearby, thanks to the efforts of Sam Wanamaker. Today, the Globe serves as a living museum of performance, carrying the spirit of Shakespeare’s stage into the present.
