Shakespeare’s Globe sits at the heart of the art print, its circular form painted in crisp white plaster with bold dark timber beams that echo the Tudor craftsmanship. The golden thatched roof glows under the soft light, and red banners hang in vertical alignment along the walls. Brick steps lead to a wrought-iron gate, grounding the building with inviting detail.
Above, the sky stretches in gentle washes of blue and lavender, dotted with flecks of lighter tone that give texture and life to the air. This calm yet lively backdrop draws the eye upward and frames the Globe with a sense of openness and quiet celebration.

Shakespeare's Globe
Constructed in 1599, the Globe Theatre
quickly became the heart of London’s entertainment scene. Shakespeare’s company used it as their home stage, performing works that shaped English drama. With its round form, open roof, and mix of galleries and standing spaces, it provided an environment that was accessible, energetic, and socially diverse.
Despite its cultural importance, the building’s life was short. Fire destroyed it in 1613, though it was quickly rebuilt, and by 1644 it was gone entirely. Its absence lasted for centuries until Sam Wanamaker inspired its reconstruction. The new Globe, opened in 1997, recreates the experience of early modern theatre while serving as a centre for education and performance. It stands today as a link between Shakespeare’s world and our own.
