Spanish City Square Open Edition Print
Spanish City Square Open Edition Print
Spanish City square open edition print has been produced from original art by local North East artist Emily Ward. All of Emily's art prints are also available framed.
Emily has used a warming yellow sky to cast a glowing light over this Renaissance-style building with its distinctive dome.
The yellow in front of the picture could represent the sand slowly creeping up from Whitley Bay Beach. Emily's white splashes over the art print add character to this local landmark full of history and stories.

Spanish City
The Spanish City was opened in 1910 and was built as a smaller version to Blackpool's Pleasure Beach. Opened initially as a concert hall, roof garden and restaurant a ballroom was added in 1920 and then a funfair.
A huge renovation project was undertaken to restore this Spanish themed building in Whitley Bay, North Tyneside, after it fell into disrepair in the 1990’s.
Tunnel of Love the Dire Straits song from 1980 mentions the Spanish City and this used to be played every morning when the fair opened.
