Holy Island
Holy Island, also known as Lindisfarne, is a small tidal island off the northeast coast of England that is rich in history, natural beauty, and spiritual significance. Accessible only at low tide via a narrow causeway, the island has a unique sense of isolation that has shaped its character for centuries.
It is most famous for the ruins of Lindisfarne Priory, an important early Christian site founded in the 7th century, and for Lindisfarne Castle, which stands dramatically on a rocky hill overlooking the sea.
The island is also a haven for wildlife, particularly seabirds, and features sweeping sandy beaches and windswept landscapes. With its peaceful atmosphere and deep historical roots, Holy Island remains a place of reflection, pilgrimage, and quiet charm.
