Fountains Abbey
is situated in Studley Royal Gardens in the Yorkshire Dales near Ripon. The impressive ruins of 12th century abbey are renowned to be one of the best preserved and largest Cistercian monasteries in England. During the 18th century a designed landscape of beauty was designed and created around the ruins of Abbey.
The National Trust site includes the water mill, the Jacobean mansion of Fountains Hall, the Victorian masterpiece St Mary’s Church and one of the most magnificent Georgian water gardens.
