Nostell House
Nostell House
takes its name from the medieval Nostell Priory, an Augustinian monastery that was founded in 1114. The monastery was dissolved by Henry VIII in 1540. The monastic site is situated near to the current house, but there is very little to see beyond the 17th-century cow stalls, which were converted from monastic outbuildings.
The gardens include a rose garden, vegetable garden, menagerie gardens, lakeside walks, orchard and a children's adventure playground. There is 300 acres of parkland to explore including lakes, the Obelisk lodge, a ha-ha, woods and marked trails for walking for cycling.
