York Minster, East Window
The Great East Window
is the largest expanse of medieval stained glass in the country. The 600 year old window has recently undergone major restoration that lasted for 12 years. There are over 300 glazed panels, this was considered a very adventurous project when it was made in the Middle Ages.
York Minster is the 2nd largest Gothic cathedral in Northern Europe. The full name of York Minster is the 'Cathedral and Metropolitical Church of St Peter in York'.
This Gothic style church was intended and designed to be the greatest cathedral in the kingdom. It took over 250 years to build, between 1220 and 1472.
