White Horse, Kilburn
The iconic White Horse at Kilburn
is visible for many miles and covers half an acre. It has been overlooking the village of Kilburn since the late 1850s. It is cut into the hillside in the North York Moors National Park in North Yorkshire.
Designed and financed by a Victorian businessman named Thomas Taylor who was originally from Kilburn. He had seen the chalk hill images in the south of England and wanted to recreate a similar image on his home territory.
During World War II the white horse was covered to prevent it from becoming a navigation landmark for enemy bombers.

Each ceramic tile is made from an original painting by North East Artist Emily Ward.
Each tile comes with it’s own wooden easel so your tile is easy to display.
There is a cork backing on each tile and each tile is individually wrapped in a cellophane bag.
All ceramic tiles are individually printed so there may be a slight variation in colour tones.
