Trafalgar Square Keyring
Trafalgar Square Keyring
Trafalgar Square keyring has been created from original artwork by Emily Ward an artist from the North East. This art keyring has been hand pressed locally in Emily's art studio.
Emily's art keyring highlights the fountains at the centre of Trafalgar Square. The water arcs upwards in clean lines, breaking into droplets that are captured against a backdrop of warm golden stone and pale blue sky. The surrounding architecture provides a clear structure, with the spire rising beyond to balance the composition.
The use of turquoise and blue tones in the water contrasts with the softer pinks and purples above. Brushwork is confident and fluid, giving the fountains a sense of motion, while the buildings remain solid but softened by colour. The result is a balanced and uplifting scene.

Trafalgar Square
Created in the 1840s, Trafalgar Square was designed as a civic monument that would commemorate Britain’s decisive naval triumph at the Battle of Trafalgar. Charles Barry’s layout made the square both impressive and functional, with Nelson’s Column towering at its centre, ringed with statues and fountains that enhanced the sense of grandeur. The column itself, with Nelson’s figure high above, quickly became one of London’s most familiar landmarks.
From the very beginning, however, the square belonged to the people as much as to the past. It became a stage for protests, public speeches, and celebrations, reflecting the democratic pulse of the city. The National Gallery, facing onto the square, gave it an added role as a cultural centre. Today Trafalgar Square is both a historic memorial and a living gathering place, where the city’s traditions and contemporary life continually intersect.
