The Mill, Fountains Abbey
Fountains Mill is was built in the 12th century and is the oldest building on the estate at Fountains Abbey
in Yorkshire.
Built to grind grain for the monastery by the Cistercians, it was in continuous use until 1927. The building had been modified and adapted over the years. With a long history, the building had been used as a timber sawmill, a monastic granary and a home for refugees over the years.
The Mill was restored in 2001 and hosts an interactive exhibition nowadays.
