Rosedale Mines Postcard
Rosedale Mines Postcard
Rosedale Mines postcard is from North East artist Emily Ward's beautiful range of Yorkshire art postcards. This postcard has been created from original art by Emily.
Emily’s art postcard captures the historic Rosedale Mines, a former ironing mine site in North Yorkshire.
The painting features the iconic stone arches of the old kilns, set against a rolling hillside. Emily has painted the sky with soft sweeping brush strokes in light blue and white, creating the feeling of a bright and airy day.
Colourful wildflowers blend into Emily’s splashes of colour on the hillside. The sheep grazes peacefully amongst the dainty flowers and long grasses on this art postcard.

Rosedale Mines
The Rosedale Mines, on the North Yorkshire Moors, was a thriving mining community in the 19th century. The moors were filled with fire, smoke and noise as the ironside mining industry boomed in Rosedale.
In 1856 mining began near to Chimney Bank and soon they needed to dig deeper into the hillside for ironstone. The Bank Top kilns were built to refine the process and make the mining more financially viable.
Conservation work has been carried on the mines to help preserve them in their current state and prevent further deterioration.
The historic Rosedale Mines can be seen on the Rosedale walk through North York Moors National Park.
