The British Museum bone china cup has been designed from original artwork by Emily Ward. All cups are printed and hand pressed in Emily's studio in the North East.

Speckles of pastel colour of golden yellows, blush pinks, and pale violets float across this art gift, creating the feeling of light drifting through the air.

The museum’s classical columns stand in steady symmetry, their creamy stone tones and cool shadows giving a sense of calm permanence.

The foreground blooms with a field of delicate flowers, rendered in lively dots and slender stems of pink, purple, blue, and fresh green. The blossoms feel airy and spontaneous, their joyful colours rising toward the building, softening its grandeur and filling the scene with warmth.

The British Museum

The British Museum stands in the Bloomsbury area of central London and is one of the most significant museums in the world. It was established in 1753 after Parliament approved the purchase of the collection of Sir Hans Sloane, a physician and scientist, and it opened to the public in 1759, becoming the first national museum to offer free access.

The museum was originally housed in Montagu House, but the present building was constructed between 1823 and 1852, designed by Sir Robert Smirke in an imposing Greek Revival style. Over the centuries, it has expanded into a vast institution, housing artefacts from across the globe and offering visitors a powerful insight into the breadth and depth of human history.
