The British Museum Fridge Magnet
The British Museum Fridge Magnet
The British Museum fridge magnet has been designed from original artwork by artist Emily Ward. This art fridge magnet is printed and hand pressed in Emily's studio in the North East.
In Emily’s interpretation of the British Museum, the grandeur of the architecture feels softened by a wash of colour and light. The sky stretches wide in a blend of powdery blues, gentle violets, and hints of rosy lavender, giving the settling a luminous glow.
Wisps of cloud drift across the surface, while tiny, scattered dots of pastel paint, like confetti or floating pollen add a softness to this art gift.
The museum’s stately columns and triangular pediment rise with dignified symmetry, their pale stone hues subtly warmed by creamy highlights and cool shadows.
In the foreground, a vibrant tapestry of wildflowers blossoms in delicate pinks, purples, yellows, and soft greens are gently swaying in front of the historic setting.

The British Museum
The British Museum was founded in 1753, making it the world’s first national public museum, established through an Act of Parliament based on the collections of physician and scientist Sir Hans Sloane. It officially opened to the public in 1759 at Montagu House, offering free access to its collections from the very beginning.
The grand building seen today was constructed later, between 1823 and 1852, designed by architect Sir Robert Smirke in an imposing Greek Revival style, with its vast columns and symmetrical façade conveying authority and permanence.
Over time, the museum expanded to house artefacts from across the world, becoming not only a centre of learning and preservation but also a symbol of shared human history and cultural exchange.
