Rufford Old Hall Ceramic Tile

Rufford Old Hall framed ceramic tile has been designed from original art by North East artist Emily Ward. All ceramic tiles are printed and hand pressed in Emily's art studio, where she hand finishes every tile.

Emily’s art framed tile presents a lively and colourful interpretation of Rufford Old Hall, blending the historic Tudor manor with a vibrant, almost dreamlike setting. The hall’s contrasting architecture is captured beautifully, the red-brick Georgian wing on the left stands in harmony with the striking black-and-white timber-framed Tudor section on the right.

A bright blue sky with soft wisps of cloud adds a calm backdrop, while the foreground bursts with an energetic field of wildflowers. Painted in splashes of pink, purple, yellow, and blue, the flowers create a sense of movement and joy, their dotted strokes bringing texture and vibrancy to the scene. Framing foliage and trees add depth, while the overall composition celebrates both the architectural heritage and the natural beauty surrounding this historic landmark.

Rufford Old Hall

Rufford Old Hall in Lancashire is an important example of late medieval and Tudor domestic architecture, distinguished by its remarkable timber-framed construction and historical significance. Erected in the 1530s for Sir Robert Hesketh, the hall’s most celebrated feature is its Great Hall, which contains an intricately carved oak screen and an elaborately designed hammerbeam roof, both exemplary of Tudor craftsmanship..

Inside, you’ll find beautifully preserved rooms filled with antique furniture, portraits, and tapestries that bring the stories of past generations to life. The house is set within picturesque gardens and woodland walks, making it a perfect place to explore both indoors and outdoors. Now cared for by the National Trust, Rufford Old Hall is a destination where history, architecture, and nature come together, offering visitors an enriching and memorable day out.
