Emily’s bone china cup captures Lancaster Castle in a vibrant and imaginative style, blending history with bursts of colour. The warm golden-brown stone of the fortress rises proudly, its battlements outlined against a sky of soft blues and purples.
Surrounding the castle, trees are painted in fresh, lively shades of green, dotted with flecks of light that give them movement and texture. At the base, a field of flowers blooms in playful splashes of pink, yellow, white, and purple, creating a joyful contrast to the solid stone walls.
Speckles of colour drift across the entire scene, weaving together the castle, sky, and landscape into a bright, almost magical vision.

Lancastor Castle
Lancaster Castle
stands proudly on its hill above the River Lune, its weathered sandstone walls and towers carrying the weight of centuries. The grand John O’Gaunt Gatehouse dominates the approach, a reminder of the castle’s long history as a fortress and centre of power.
Over time, it has guarded the city, witnessed famous trials such as those of the Pendle witches, and served as both court and prison. With its battlements, turrets, and arched gateways, the castle embodies medieval strength and authority, while its elevated position creates a commanding view over Lancaster.
