Eastgate Clock, Chester Pendant Decoration
Eastgate Clock, Chester Hanging Pendant Decoration
Eastgate Clock, Chester ceramic pendant has been created from original art by North East artist Emily Ward. This lovely hanging decoration has been hand pressed locally in her studio near Newcastle.
Emily Ward’s art ceramic pendant portrays Eastgate Clock in Chester in a vibrant, dreamlike style, filled with bold colours. The pendant is dominated by the ornate clock tower, its deep blues, gold details, and intricate ironwork standing out against the warm orange and red tones of the surrounding buildings.
Above, the sky glows with striking shades of pink, purple, and soft orange, creating a dramatic, almost magical backdrop. In the foreground, a lively field of flowers bursts with colour, painted in dotted strokes of yellow, pink, purple, and white, which add movement and energy to the artwork.
Together, the vivid sky, the colourful blooms, and the architectural detail of the clock create a joyful, atmospheric image that celebrates both the history and beauty of this iconic Chester landmark.

Eastgate Clock, Chester
Eastgate Clock in Chester is one of the city’s most iconic landmarks and a celebrated example of Victorian design. Built in 1899 to commemorate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee, it stands on the site of the original entrance to the Roman fortress of Deva.
The ornate ironwork structure, with its decorative gilding, intricate details, and striking clock faces on all four sides, sits proudly above the Eastgate. It offers visitors a reminder of both Chester’s ancient Roman origins and its later Victorian grandeur. Often described as the most photographed clock in England after Big Ben, Eastgate Clock has become a beloved symbol of the city, blending history, craftsmanship, and civic pride in a single striking monument.
