Anglesey Abbey Square Open Edition Print

Anglesey Abbey square open edition print has been produced from original art by local North East artist Emily Ward. All of Emily's art prints are also available framed.

This delightful art print captures the timeless elegance of Anglesey Abbey in a palette of warm, uplifting colours. The sky glows with beautiful shades of pink, peach and soft lavender, creating a peaceful backdrop that bathes the historic house in gentle light.

The honey coloured stone of the abbey contrasts beautifully with the rich terracotta roof tiles, while climbing ivy softens the facade and adds a sense of age and character.

In the foreground, a vibrant meadow of wildflowers in shades of pink, purple, white and hints of orange stretches across Emily's art, bringing a joyful burst of colour that perfectly complements the grandeur of the building.

Anglesey Abbey

Located just outside the village of Lode, around six miles from Cambridge, Anglesey Abbey is one of England's finest historic country houses. The site was originally founded in 1135 by King Henry I as the Hospital of St Mary before being converted into an Augustinian priory in the early 13th century. Following the Dissolution of the Monasteries, the surviving buildings were transformed into the Jacobean style house seen today.

The house is a Grade I listed building, while its magnificent gardens were developed by Lord Fairhaven in 1926.

Today, Anglesey Abbey is cared for by the National Trust and is renowned for its spectacular seasonal gardens, working watermill and remarkable collection of fine art, clocks and furniture assembled by Lord Fairhaven, who created many of the beautiful avenues and landscapes that visitors enjoy today. Despite its name, Anglesey Abbey was never actually an abbey, it was always a priory.
