Westminster Abbey square open edition print has been produced from original art by local North East artist Emily Ward. All of Emily's art prints are also available framed.
In this artwork, Trafalgar Square is shown in strong colour contrasts. The fountain’s upward spray stands at the centre, catching the light in highlights. Around it, the water settles into pools of turquoise, reflecting the movement above.
The architecture is painted in warm golds and soft greys, anchoring the scene. The background sky is more varied, moving from gentle lilac tones to deeper blues. The result is a painting that feels structured but still fluid, with a clear balance between water and stone.

Westminster Abbey
In the nineteenth century, Charles Barry reshaped the centre of London to create Trafalgar Square, a civic monument named after Britain’s naval triumph of 1805. The design placed Nelson’s Column at its core, crowned with a statue of the admiral and guarded by lions. Around it, fountains and statues created a setting that was both grand and accessible to the public.
Since its opening, the square has played host to the full spectrum of civic life. Protesters have rallied there, citizens have celebrated there, and tourists now flock to its monuments and fountains. The National Gallery, presiding over the square, adds to its cultural weight. Trafalgar Square is thus both a historic memorial and a stage for public expression, embodying London’s mix of tradition and vitality.
