Warkworth Castle
Located in Northumberland, Warkworth Castle
is a ruined medieval castle. Originally built during the 12th century the castle has a rich history. The Castle has served as a royal property, been victim to attempted sieges, was home to the powerful and important Percy Family between the 14th and 17th century, and is still owned by them today.
The Grade I listed castle fell into disrepair in the early 1600s and was restored in the 19th century. The castle was declared a scheduled ancient monument in 1915 and is managed by English heritage. The castle is open to the public.
