The Cobb at Lyme Regis Tile with Easel
The Cobb at Lyme Regis Ceramic Tile with Easel
The Cobb at Lyme Regis ceramic tile with easel is by North East artist Emily Ward. The ceramic tile has been created from original artwork by Emily and is hand pressed locally in her art studio.
A soft, luminous haze settles over The Cobb, where the curved stone wall guides the gaze toward a glowing horizon. The sky on Emily’s art ceramic tile is filled with layered tones of rose, apricot, and pale gold, blending seamlessly together.
The sea mirrors these colours, its surface reflecting gentle shades of pink and amber, with subtle ripples catching the light. The stone path, worn and earthy in browns and muted reds, provides a quiet contrast to the glowing sky and water.
Nearby, a small wooden hut and a cluster of boats sit calmly at the edge of the harbour, their understated tones grounding the scene beneath the warm, glowing light of the setting sun.

The Cobb at Lyme Regis
The Cobb at Lyme Regis is a historic stone harbour wall in Lyme Regis, on England’s Jurassic Coast. Curving gracefully into the English Channel, the structure has protected the town’s boats for centuries and has become one of Dorset’s most iconic landmarks.
Originally constructed in the 13th century and rebuilt several times after storm damage, the Cobb is made of massive limestone blocks and features a distinctive rounded shape that helps break the force of the sea. It is not only important for maritime history but also famous in literature, notably appearing in Persuasion by Jane Austen, where a dramatic scene takes place along its walkway.
Today, the Cobb remains a popular spot for visitors, offering scenic views, opportunities for fishing and photography, and a powerful reminder of Lyme Regis’s long connection to the sea.
