The Cobb at Lyme Regis framed ceramic tile has been designed from original artwork by North East artist Emily Ward. All ceramic tiles are printed and hand pressed in Emily's art studio, where she hand finishes every tile.
Emily’s wall art of The Cobb unfolds beneath a sky tinged with gentle shades of blush, salmon, and soft amber, where light seems to linger in the clouds as the sun lowers toward the horizon.
These warm tones spill into the sea, tinting the water with delicate pinks and golds that shimmer quietly across its surface.
The curve of the stone harbour, textured and timeworn, stretches outward in subdued hues of brown and terracotta, leading toward the small wooden hut that rests near the water’s edge. Boats are moored nearby, their forms simple and still, adding a quiet presence to the scene.

The Cobb at Lyme Regis
is a remarkable example of medieval engineering, built to shelter the town’s fishing and trading vessels from the powerful tides of the English Channel. Its distinctive curved design, constructed from local limestone and massive granite blocks, helps absorb the force of crashing waves while creating a calm harbour within.
Over hundreds of years, it has been strengthened and reshaped following storm damage, giving it the layered appearance seen today. Beyond its practical function, the Cobb has become a defining feature of Lyme Regis, drawing visitors who come to admire its history, enjoy panoramic coastal views, and experience the dramatic meeting of land and sea along this historic stretch of the Jurassic Coast.
Ceramic Framed Tile
Each Framed Tile is hand finished by North East Artist Emily Ward. So although your ceramic framed tile is actually a print, no two tiles are identical. Emily hand finishes the tiles by adding extra paint to the ceramic tile.
The framed tile appears as if it is floating inside the frame.
Frames are available in White and Black Frames.
