Temple of Fame, Studley Royal Water Garden Bone China Cup

Temple of Fame, Studley Royal Water Garden Bone China Cup has been created from original artwork by local North East artist Emily Ward. It is part of her range of artwork from Fountains Abbey.

All of Emily's bone china cups are hand pressed in her art studio in North Tyneside.

Bright leaves are dotted with pink and yellow as if it is raining colour over this Georgian folly. The Roman styled columns have hints of green shading from the leafy vegetation that surrounds the temple.

The pretty flowers growing in front of the round rotunda look lovely and bright on this bone china cup.

Temple of Fame, Studley Royal Water Gardens

Studley Royal Water Garden , including the ruins of Fountains Abbey , in Yorkshire, is a designated World Heritage Site. This 800 acre National Trust site features the largest Cistercian abbey ruins in Europe, 18th century landscaped gardens, and a Jacobean mansion.

UNESCO listed it as 'one of the most magnificent Georgian water gardens ever created'.

The Temple of Fame is believed to date from around 1770, built for William Aislabie by Thomas Buck and Thomas Doe.

Although the 8 columns look like stone, they are actually wood and plaster, and subsequently have needed frequent renovations. Originally positioned near to the banqueting house, it was moved to a vantage point to look out over Moon Pond.
