Tamar and Brunel Bridges framed ceramic tile has been designed from original artwork by North East artist Emily Ward. All ceramic tiles are printed and hand pressed in Emily's art studio, where she hand finishes every tile.
Emily Ward’s wall art captures the Tamar crossing as a lively and harmonious blend of landscape and engineering, with the Royal Albert Bridge and the Tamar Bridge forming the heart of the scene.
The sky stretches wide in soft washes of blue and lilac, gently speckled to create a sense of light, air, and movement.
The river curves calmly through the composition, reflecting cool tones that contrast with the warmer colours of the town rising along the banks.
In the foreground, tall grasses and wildflowers bloom in layers of pinks, yellows, greens, and purples, their loose, expressive marks adding texture and energy and drawing the eye toward the bridges beyond.

Tamar and Brunel Bridges
The Royal Albert Bridge and the Tamar Bridge cross the River Tamar at Saltash, linking Devon and Cornwall with two very different feats of engineering. The Royal Albert Bridge was completed in 1859, designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, and is instantly recognisable by its elegant iron arches that carry the railway high above the water.
Nearby, the Tamar Bridge was opened in 1961 to carry road traffic, its suspension design reflecting a more modern, functional style. Standing side by side, the bridges
highlight nearly a century of engineering progress while together forming a dramatic and iconic gateway between the two counties.
Ceramic Framed Tile
Each Framed Tile is hand finished by North East Artist Emily Ward. So although your ceramic framed tile is actually a print, no two tiles are identical. Emily hand finishes the tiles by adding extra paint to the ceramic tile.
The framed tile appears as if it is floating inside the frame.
