Perth Bridge, River Tay Bone China Cup

Perth Bridge, River Tay Bone China Cup is from original artwork by Emily Ward a local North East artist.

This charming art cup has been hand pressed locally in Emily's studio.

The steeple of St Mathew's Church stands proud on the riverside underneath a sky filled with colour and fluffy clouds. The rich and leafy shrubbery along the river path is brightened up with splashes of colour.

Emily's river is peppered with relaxing tones of pinks, lilacs and aqua as it flows underneath the many arches of this ancient iconic bridge.

Perth Bridge, River Tay

When Perth Bridge was completed in 1771 it was Scotland's and John Smeaton's, the chief architect, largest bridge. The bridge replaced the many ferries that had crossed the River Tay since 1621.

The bridge was built after the ancient bridge had collapsed and it has nine arches made of Perth sandstone. The peris and spandrels are decorated with architectural rings of stone filled with black whinstone.
