Eilean Donan Bone China Cup

Eilean Donan Bone China Cup is from an original painting by local North East artist Emily Ward.

The Loch shimmers with purples, silvers and blues which reflect from the evening sun. The purple tones in the sky add to the romance of this painting of this iconic castle.

Eilean Donan Castle

The first fortified castle was built on this tidal island in the 13th century. It stood guard over the lands of Kintail in the Western Highlands of Scotland. There have been at least four different castles that have been rebuilt over the centuries.

Eilean Donan Castle was partially destroyed in 1719 by a Jacobite uprising. The castle remained in ruins for about 200 years until the island was bought in 1911 and the castle was restored and reopened in 1932.
