Cranbrook Windmill bone china cup has been designed from original artwork by Emily Ward. All cups are printed and hand pressed in Emily's studio in the North East.

Emily’s art bone china cup depicts the Cranbrook Windmill in a vivid and uplifting style, blending its historic form with a lively palette of colours.The tall smock mill, shown in soft tones of cream, grey, and shadow, stands proudly with its sails stretching wide across the artwork.

Behind it, the sky glows with layers of blue and purple, scattered with flecks of pink, yellow, and violet that add depth and movement. At the base, a field of wildflowers bursts with energy, painted in dotted strokes of purple, blue, yellow, and green.

Cranbrook Windmill

Cranbrook Windmill, more commonly known as Union Mill, is a defining feature of Kent and the tallest surviving smock mill in Britain. Built in 1814, it rises more than 70 feet and was originally driven by wind to grind corn into flour for the surrounding community. Its striking white timber frame, narrowing upwards to a cap topped with sweeping sails, makes it a prominent landmark on Cranbrook’s skyline.

Now carefully maintained and still in working condition, the mill allows visitors to explore its traditional machinery and discover the important part it played in local industry. Today, Union Mill stands as both a treasured attraction and a lasting symbol of Cranbrook’s rural heritage and craftsmanship.
