Cranbrook Windmill Open Edition Print

Cranbrook Windmill open edition print has been designed from original artwork by North East artist Emily Ward. This lovely art print is also available framed.

Emily’s art print portrays Cranbrook Windmill in a bright and lively style, combining historic architecture with a burst of colour. The tall smock mill, painted in shades of cream and grey with hints of shadow, rises proudly with its wide sails stretching across the art print.

The sky is a wash of soft blues and purples, flecked with splashes of pink, yellow, and violet, creating a dreamy atmosphere. In the foreground, a meadow of wildflowers bursts into life, depicted with scattered dots and strokes of purples, blues, yellows, and greens.

The contrast between the solid, enduring windmill and the playful, colourful setting gives the open edition print a sense of both history and joy, transforming a rural landmark into a scene full of charm and vitality.

Cranbrook Windmill

Cranbrook Windmill, more commonly known as Union Mill, is a defining feature of Kent and the tallest surviving smock mill in Britain. Built in 1814, it rises more than 70 feet and was originally driven by wind to grind corn into flour for the surrounding community. Its striking white timber frame, narrowing upwards to a cap topped with sweeping sails, makes it a prominent landmark on Cranbrook’s skyline.

Now carefully maintained and still in working condition, the mill allows visitors to explore its traditional machinery and discover the important part it played in local industry. Today, Union Mill stands as both a treasured attraction and a lasting symbol of Cranbrook’s rural heritage and craftsmanship.
