Carlisle Castle
Carlisle Castle, located in Cumbria near the English-Scottish border, is a fortress with over 900 years of history and one of the most important strongholds in northern England. First built in 1092 by William II, the son of William the Conqueror, it has served as a royal residence, a military stronghold, and a prison. Its strategic position made it central to centuries of conflict between England and Scotland, including the turbulent Border Wars.
The castle is notable for its massive stone keep, medieval walls, and later additions that reflect its continuous military use up until the 20th century. It also has strong associations with Mary, Queen of Scots, who was imprisoned there in 1568. Today, Carlisle Castle
is managed by English Heritage and remains a powerful symbol of the region’s turbulent past, offering visitors a chance to explore its towers, dungeons, and rich history.

Each tile comes with it’s own wooden easel so your tile is easy to display.
There is a cork backing on each tile and each tile is individually wrapped in a cellophane bag.
All ceramic tiles are individually printed so there may be a slight variation in colour tones.
