Barbican Gates, Antrim Castle ceramic tile with easel is by North East artist Emily Ward. The ceramic tile has been created from original artwork by Emily and is hand pressed locally in her art studio.
Emily's art ceramic tile of the Barbican Gates at Antrim Castle captures the historic structure with a colourful style.
The sky is painted in soft, blended shades of pale yellow and light blue, creating a warm, glowing backdrop that gently surrounds the towers. In front of the gates, a vibrant display of flowers fills the foreground, made up of delicate stems and scattered dots in bright pinks, purples, blues, and yellows.
These lively colours contrast with the strong, earthy tones of the stonework. The gates themselves are shown with architectural detail, including the two sturdy round towers and a central arched entrance, highlighted by a striking red door that draws the eye. Together, the soft sky, vivid flowers, and solid structure create a scene that feels quite peaceful.

Barbican Gates, Antrim Castle
The Barbican Gates at Antrim Castle Gardens
are among the most striking surviving features of the historic estate in Antrim. Dating from the 17th century, the fortified stone gateway once formed part of the defensive entrance to Antrim Castle, the ancestral home of the Massereene family.
Built in a classic barbican style, with thick masonry walls and an arched carriageway, the structure was designed both to impress visitors and to protect the castle beyond. Although the castle itself was largely destroyed by fire in 1922, the Barbican Gates remain beautifully preserved, standing today as a dramatic architectural reminder of the estate’s former grandeur and offering visitors a tangible link to Antrim’s early modern history.

Each tile comes with it’s own wooden easel so your tile is easy to display.
There is a cork backing on each tile and each tile is individually wrapped in a cellophane bag.
All ceramic tiles are individually printed so there may be a slight variation in colour tones.
Ceramic Tile including the wooden easel is 15cm high x 10cm wide.
