Anglesey Abbey Postcard

Anglesey Abbey Postcard is from North East artist Emily Ward's beautiful range of art postcards. This postcard has been created from original artwork by Emily.

This delightful art postcard captures the timeless elegance of Anglesey Abbey in a palette of warm, uplifting colours. The sky glows with beautiful shades of pink, peach and soft lavender, creating a peaceful backdrop that bathes the historic house in gentle light.

The honey coloured stone of the abbey contrasts beautifully with the rich terracotta roof tiles, while climbing ivy softens the facade and adds a sense of age and character.

In the foreground, a vibrant meadow of wildflowers in shades of pink, purple, white and hints of orange stretches across Emily's art, bringing a joyful burst of colour that perfectly complements the grandeur of the building.

Anglesey Abbey

Nestled in the beautiful Cambridgeshire countryside near the village of Lode, just a few miles from Cambridge, Anglesey Abbey is a magnificent historic house surrounded by breathtaking gardens and parkland. The site was established in 1135 by King Henry I as a hospital before becoming an Augustinian priory, later evolving into the elegant Jacobean house that stands today.

Recognised as a Grade I listed building, it is celebrated for both its architectural significance and its stunning landscaped grounds. Now in the care of the National Trust, Anglesey Abbey is particularly famous for its colourful seasonal displays, peaceful woodland walks and historic working watermill.

Anglesey Abbey, despite its name, was never officially an abbey but remained a priory throughout its religious history.
