White Horse, Kilburn Framed Ceramic Tile

White Horse at Kilburn framed ceramic tile has been created from a lovely original painting by North East artist Emily Ward. The glaze of the hand pressed ceramic tile really brings out the colours of this painting.

Emily's splashes of colour surround this horse that is carved into the North Yorkshire moors. A bright blue sky shines bright over the rich green countryside.

White Horse, Kilburn

Kilburn White Horse is one of the most famous landmarks in North Yorkshire and the most northerly turf-cut figure in Britain. It is visible for miles and is situated at Sutton Bank in the North York Moors National Park.

The horse dates from 1857 and was designed and financed by a local businessman named Thomas Taylor. The outline of the horse was marked out by the Kilburn village schoolmaster and his pupils.

The horse is cut into the limestone underneath however to make it more visible today, chalk chippings have been added at intervals.

Ceramic Framed Tile

Each Framed Tile is hand finished by North East Artist Emily Ward. So although your ceramic framed tile is actually a print, no two tiles are identical. Emily hand finishes the tiles by adding extra paint to the ceramic tile.

The framed tile appears as if it is floating inside the frame.

Frames are available in White and Black Frames.

Each frame is 27 x 27 x 5cm

Colours may vary as each tile is printed individually.
