Wallington

Wallington is near the village of Cambo in the beautiful countryside of Northumberland, and was originally built in 1688.

Guarding the country house are four dragons' heads which were carved in a grotesque style with an oriental influence. They are made from Portland Stone and are Grade II listed. They are thought to be the work of Christopher Horsnaile from 1733 and were brought from Bishopsgate, London, in 1760, by Sir Walter Blackett's when London's gates were demolished. It is thought that he had them taken to his sham-castle or folly at Rothley, Northumberland until 1879. They were moved to Wallington in 1928.
