Urquhart Castle
is situated on the north-western shore of Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands, south of Inverness. Stunning views of Loch Ness ensure that this is one of the most photographed castles in Scotland.
This majestic ruin of a castle has over a 1000 years of medieval history. Urquhart Castle was destroyed in 1689 when the English Garrison left the castle, to prevent it being used as a Jacobite base. The castle today is owned by Historic Scotland.
