Durdle Door Framed Ceramic Tile

Durdle Door framed ceramic tile has been designed from original artwork by North East artist Emily Ward. All ceramic tiles are printed and hand pressed in Emily's art studio, where she hand finishes every tile.

Emily’s framed ceramic tile of Durdle Door shows the coastline in soft, blended colours that create a calm and inviting scene. The sky is made up of gentle shades of blue, lilac, and pale pink, giving it a light and airy feel, with small specks of colour scattered across it like drifting petals.

The sea below appears clear and bright, shifting from deeper turquoise further out to lighter blue-green tones near the shore, where it meets the beach.

The sandy cove curves smoothly along the land in warm tones of peach and beige, adding warmth to this wall art.

In the foreground, tall, delicate flowers rise up in a mix of pink, purple, yellow, and white, filling the lower part of the scene with colour and texture. Together, these elements create a peaceful coastal view that feels both gentle and full of life.

Durdle Door

Durdle Door is a striking natural limestone arch located along the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, renowned for its dramatic shape and coastal beauty. Formed over millions of years by the erosion of rock by powerful sea waves, the arch rises gracefully from the clear blue waters, creating a unique and instantly recognisable landmark.

The surrounding cliffs and rolling green hills add to the scenery, offering breathtaking views from above and along the beach below. The contrast between the pale stone, the deep blue sea, and the changing sky makes Durdle Door a popular destination for walkers, photographers, and visitors seeking one of the south coast’s most iconic natural landscapes.

The site is part of the Jurassic Coast, which was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2001 due to its outstanding geological importance and well-preserved record of Earth’s history.
