The Bridge House, Ambleside Postcard
The Bridge House, Ambleside Postcard
The Bridge House, Ambleside postcard is from North East artist Emily Ward's beautiful range of art postcards. This postcard has been created from original art by Emily.
Emily’s art captures the character and charm of the famous Bridge House in Ambleside on this lovely art postcard. Perched above a graceful stone arch bridge, the quaint stone building stands proudly, its rustic walls and slate roof full of historic charm. The blue-painted windows add a cheerful touch, contrasting gently with the earthy tones of the stonework.
Surrounding the house, the scene bursts with colour and life. Wildflowers in soft pinks, whites, yellows, and greens rise up in the foreground, while the calm stream flowing beneath the bridge reflects the vibrant greenery. The trees on either side frame the scene with fresh, leafy tones, and the sky above is a dreamy mix of purples and blues. Throughout the painting, playful splashes and dashes of colour create an almost fairytale-like atmosphere, celebrating the beauty and character of this iconic Lakeland building.

The Bridge House, Ambleside
Bridge House in Ambleside is a charming 17th-century stone building that famously straddles Stock Beck in the heart of the Lake District. Originally built by the Braithwaite family, likely as an apple store to serve their orchards, it later became known for its unusual location. Despite its tiny size, the house has had a surprising number of uses over the centuries, including as a weaver’s workshop, a counting house, a tearoom, and even a home for a family of eight.
Its quirky design and rich history have made it one of the most photographed landmarks in the region. Today the house is preserved by the National Trust, Bridge House stands as a unique symbol of Ambleside’s heritage and inventive past.
