Maryport Keyring

Maryport art keyring has been designed from original artwork by Emily Ward an artist from Newcastle. Emily's artwork of Maryport is from her art portfolio from the North West.

This art keyring is printed and hand pressed locally in Emily's studio.

Shades of pink shimmer through the dark skies above the lighthouse beacon at the end of the pier in Maryport.

Emily's sea spray rains down over the white tower with it's aged old orange rust. The hills of the Solway Firth can be seen in the background.

Maryport

Maryport was originally the creation of the Senhouse family back in the 18th century, they developed the small fishing village into a coal port. Maryport is a pretty harbour town in Cumbria which offers views along the Solway Firth.

The first recording of a lighthouse at Maryport was in 1796 by the Scottish Civil Engineer & famed designer & builder of lighthouses, Robert Stevenson. He described its design five years later as an oil lamp with two reflectors.

With the construction of the new dock in 1833, a new pier and lighthouse were built. The lighthouse was established in 1846 and it is reported to be the oldest cast-iron lighthouse in the UK and is a Grade II listed building.
