Cranbrook Windmill Canvas Print
Cranbrook Windmill Canvas Print
Cranbrook Windmill art print has been produced from original artwork by North East artist Emily Ward. Emily hand finishes each canvas print with her characteristic splashes of paint making it individual to you.
Emily’s art canvas print portrays Cranbrook Windmill in a bright and lively style, combining historic architecture with a burst of colour. The tall smock mill, painted in shades of cream and grey with hints of shadow, rises proudly with its wide sails stretching across the canvas.
The sky is a wash of soft blues and purples, flecked with splashes of pink, yellow, and violet, creating a dreamy atmosphere. In the foreground, a meadow of wildflowers bursts into life, depicted with scattered dots and strokes of purples, blues, yellows, and greens.
The contrast between the solid, enduring windmill and the playful, colourful setting gives the canvas print a sense of both history and joy, transforming a rural landmark into a scene full of charm and vitality.

Cranbrook Windmill
Cranbrook Windmill, also known as Union Mill, is one of the most famous landmarks in Kent and the tallest surviving smock mill in the United Kingdom. Built in 1814, it stands at over 70 feet high and was originally powered by wind to grind corn into flour for the local community. Its distinctive white-painted wooden structure, tapering towards a cap fitted with large sweeping sails, dominates the skyline of the historic town of Cranbrook.
Carefully preserved and still in working order, Cranbrook Windmill offers visitors the chance to see traditional milling machinery and learn about the vital role it once played in local life. Today, Union Mill remains both a heritage attraction and a symbol of Cranbrook, reflecting the town’s rural history and engineering ingenuity.
