Tower of Refuge Bone China Cup

Tower of Refuge Bone China Cup is by Emily Ward a local North East artist. This lovely cup has been created from original art by Emily and is printed and hand pressed in her art studio.

A soft purple haze fills the cloud filled sky above the landmark tower on the Isle of Man.

Tones of orange glimmer across the stonework on top of the three turrets.

Tower of Refuge

The Tower of Refuge guards St Mary's Isle in Douglas Bay on the Isle of Man. William Hillary the founder of the RNLI petitioned for a sanctuary to be built on there.

The stone tower was constructed in 1832 by the RNLI to provide a visible warning for ships. Built on a partially submerged reef, the tower also provided shelter to unfortunate shipwreck victims until help arrived. There was a a bell to summon help along with space to store provisions such as bread and water for those in distress.

Each bone china cup is made from an original artwork by North East Artist Emily Ward.

All cups are hand pressed at Emily's art studio.
