Salisbury Cathedral Greeting Card

Salisbury Cathedral greeting card is from North East artist Emily Ward's beautiful range of blank art cards. This greeting card has been created from original artwork by Emily.

The sky above Salisbury Cathedral is a soft, expansive blue, alive with gentle brushstrokes and scattered specks of white, pink, yellow, and pale blue that drift like confetti, pollen, or light rain.

The cathedral itself rises calmly at the center of this art card, its tall spire stretching upward bathed in sunlight, awash with warm creams, honeyed stone, and subtle hints of lavender and grey.

In the foreground, a luminous meadow unfolds in yellow-green tones, filled with tall, delicate stems and small, airy blossoms in pinks, whites, purples, and blues.

Salisbury Cathedral

Salisbury Cathedral was founded in the early 13th century after the decision to move the cathedral from Old Sarum to a more accessible site in the Avon valley. Construction began in 1220 and was completed unusually quickly for the period, largely finished within about 40 years.

The famous spire was added later in the 14th century, transforming the cathedral’s silhouette and making it a dominant feature of the surrounding landscape. Over the centuries, Salisbury Cathedral has remained an important religious centre, preserving its medieval character and architectural unity to a remarkable degree.
