Rutter Force
Rutter Force, near the village of Great Asby in Cumbria, is a charming waterfall on the Hoff Beck. It is set in a picturesque and tranquil corner of the Eden Valley. The falls cascade over a broad limestone ledge into a clear pool below, with the old mill building standing nearby.
The mill, originally used for grinding corn, was later converted to manufacture bobbins and then a sawmill. In the late 19th century, a water turbine was installed at the falls to generate electricity for the village
Surrounded by trees and lush greenery, Rutter Force
has a secluded, almost hidden feel, making it a peaceful spot for walkers and photographers to enjoy. It is easily reached by footpaths from the village or nearby lanes.
