Rosedale Mines
The Rosedale Mines, on the North Yorkshire Moors, was a thriving mining community in the 19th century. The moors were filled with fire, smoke and noise as the ironside mining industry boomed in Rosedale.
In 1856 mining began near to Chimney Bank and soon they needed to dig deeper into the hillside for ironstone. The Bank Top kilns were built to refine the process and make the mining more financially viable.
Conservation work has been carried on the mines to help preserve them in their current state and prevent further deterioration.
The historic Rosedale Mines can be seen on the Rosedale walk through North York Moors National Park.
