Puffin
The Farne Islands are an incredibly important wildlife reserve, they are home to many species including Puffin, Eider, Razorbill, Guillemot, Shag, Kittiwake and Fulmar. A large colony of grey seals breed through the autumn and winter months here.
The popular puffin
has beautiful markings, a striking coloured bill, it is a bird known to most. Often referred to as a sea parrot, locally in Northumberland, the bird is known as a 'Tommy Noddy'. Male and females look almost identical with the male often being slightly larger.
