Perth Bridge, River Tay
Perth Bridge
crosses the River Tay, the longest river in Scotland at about 120 miles. Perth lies on the banks of the River Tay and was established in the 12th century. Until around 1452 Perth was known as the capital of Scotland.
Perth Bridge has nine sandstone arches and was completed in 1771. John Smeaton, was appointed chief architect and the bridge cost £26,446 to build.
