Morpeth Chantry Coaster

Morpeth Chantry coaster by artist Emily Ward has been hand pressed locally onto a FSC rated hardbacked coaster. The coaster has been produced from original art by Emily.

This coaster can also be purchased in a set of four in a gift box.

Emily's art coaster of Morpeth Chantry portrays the medieval building in a radiant, almost whimsical light. Its sandstone walls glow in warm tones of gold and amber, accentuating the graceful arched doorway and slender Gothic windows.

A meadow of flowers stretches across the foreground, alive with splashes of pink, purple, yellow, and blue, creating a playful burst of colour that softens the strong lines of the stone.

Above, the sky blends shades of lilac and soft blue, sprinkled with lively dots of colour that add sparkle and movement. Set against trees and nearby houses, the chantry becomes the glowing centrepiece of a bright, joyful composition.

Morpeth Chantry

Morpeth Chantry, standing by the River Wansbeck in the heart of Morpeth, is a remarkable reminder of the town’s medieval past. Built in the 13th century, it first served as both a chapel and a chantry school, its sandstone walls and pointed arches showcasing the architectural style of the time.

Over the centuries, the building has been used in many ways, including as a school and courthouse, and today it thrives as a hub for visitors with its craft centre, art gallery, and tourist information. Blending history with modern community life, Morpeth Chantry remains one of the town’s most cherished landmarks.
