Lowther Castle Open Edition Print A4
Lowther Castle Open Edition Print
Lowther Castle open edition print has been designed from original art by North East artist Emily Ward. This lovely art print is also available framed.
Emily’s art print of Lowther Castle transforms the grand ruin into a scene filled with colour and light. The castle’s dramatic Gothic towers and battlements rise with strength and elegance, illuminated by a glowing yellow sun that radiates across the sky and softens into cool blue tones.
In front of the castle, a wide pathway framed by clipped green hedges draws the viewer inward, while the foreground bursts with a meadow of wildflowers painted in joyful splashes of pink, purple, yellow, and blue.
The scattering of paint across the entire print creates movement and harmony, weaving together sky, stone, and garden to present Lowther Castle as both majestic and magical.

Lowther Castle
Lowther Castle , set in the heart of the Lake District near Penrith, is one of the region’s most atmospheric historic sites. Built between 1806 and 1814 for the Lowther family, it was designed by architect Robert Smirke in the grand Gothic Revival style, with soaring towers and dramatic stonework that reflected both wealth and power.
Once a lavish stately home surrounded by formal gardens and parkland, the castle fell into ruin during the 20th century after being abandoned and partially dismantled. Today, its majestic remains stand as a romantic reminder of its past, surrounded by beautifully restored gardens and sweeping Cumbrian scenery that highlight both its history and enduring beauty.
