Hatfield House Postcard

Hatfield House postcard is by North East artist Emily Ward from her art portfolio from Anglia.

Emily’s vibrant postcard of Hatfield House captures the impressive red brick building surrounded by a garden bursting with colour.

The bright blue sky creates a striking backdrop, fading into softer shades of blue and white around the house. Splashes of pink, yellow and white across the sky add a pop of colour.

The warm orange and terracotta tones of the historic building stand out beautifully against the fresh summer colours.

Hatfield House

Hatfield House is a historic Jacobean country house in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, and has been the home of the Cecil family for more than 400 years. The present house was built between 1607 and 1611 for Robert Cecil, 1st Earl of Salisbury, and is renowned for its impressive architecture, grand interiors and extensive collection of paintings, furniture and historic objects.

The estate also has strong connections with Queen Elizabeth I, who spent part of her childhood at the earlier royal palace at Hatfield.

Today, Hatfield House is surrounded by extensive gardens and parkland and remains one of Hertfordshire’s most significant historic houses.
