Gearrannan Blackhouses, Isle of Lewis
The Blackhouses of Gearrannan
on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides were still inhabited up the 1970's. They were so named to distinguish them from the newer white houses that were built in the late 1800's. The design and construction of these houses dates back several thousand years.
The roofs were thatched and constructed on a wooded frame.

Each Canvas Print is hand finished by North East Artist Emily Ward. So although your canvas is actually a print no two prints are identical. Emily hand finishes the canvas prints by adding extra paint to the print.

The canvas is mounted on a wooden frame. The wooden frame is approximately 2cm deep so will fit snugly against any wall.
